In Silly Silly, cultural folklore is reimagined in fantastical ways through toy making, that honours the child, first and foremost. These creatures are derived from traditional Samoan, Korean, and Filipino histories.
Silly Silly is for the childlike and underworlds to run rampant, hand in hand. Poetics found within our own cultural ‘myths’ and ‘legends’ have often set perimetres on how we can understand and interact with our worlds. From ancient parables of universal creation orally inherited from generation to generation - to more modern stories that are displayed on our flattened image screens today.
It is a world only known through these stories and within this ever-expanding world, these creatures have cemented themselves in our histories, experiences and being. This imagined & now materialised spirit realm welcomes all.
