Mahuru Wilcox is the wahine behind Hau Botanicals, which is all things she loves in life coming together. She has always been a nature nerd, leading her to do a BSc in Zoology and Ecology and MSc in Freshwater Ecology. Her passion is our environment here in Aotearoa, and supporting iwi/ hapū engage in environmental governance, management and monitoring. This mahi has connected Mahuru to the most amazing people and places, which has helped along her rongoā journey.

She is fascinated by natural health and healing, which runs in both her whānau from Tauranga and Whakatāne. Energetic healing, herbal remedies and rongoā have always been her go-to, and helped her through various health issues over the years. But for her, the most healing thing is to get out for a bush walk or go surfing. That is Mahuru’s long-term health investment plan. While recovering from surgery, she decided to take the plunge and share her passion and products with others. And this is how Hau Botanicals was born.
